Saint Paul
The open market of Saint-Paul is considered as one of the most beautiful of the island.
This “must see” takes place on Friday (all day long) and on Saturday morning, on the sea front of the city.
At the time of its visit, you will be plunged in fabulous environments, extraordinary savours and local scents.
You will find there not only handcrafts products, but also many spices, succulent exotic fruits, innumerable varieties of vegetables and the famous Herbalist stall.
You will be able to taste Creole specialities, such as bouchons, samoussas... Small restaurants are at your disposal (the market is open all the day, starting from 6A.M.) to make you try the local food: typical curries, rougail saucisse and other dishes... Between paréos, tee-shirt, hats, spices, fruits you will find a real sensation of being in an exotic country.
Saint Gilles
The market of Saint Gilles les Bains takes place every Wednesday morning in the centre town (market place). Of a dimension more modest than that of Paul Saint, it offers has visitor an outline of the local products. |
