FESTIVAL OF GERANIUM AND FOREST - November 12^th in Maïdo

Come to discover, in family, the tops of Saint-Paul, full with authentic and new richness. The festival of geranium and the forest, proposed by the Office of Tourism of Saint-Paul, is the appointment of the relaxation and the discovery. Activities in the open air, strolls, local kitchen, lodging: all is joined together to allow you to benefit fully from this day. Maïdo changes, moreover, in a true amusement park for the children, for the greatest happiness of kids and others.

Games for children: find in the “Parc de la Luge ”, the “forêt de l’aventure” and the park of Doudou , a multitude of games: logger game, rope game, old games, angling… Practical information: Certain games are free, others are proposed with reduced tariff.

 PATRIMONIAL DISCOVERY

- Cooking geranium:

The house of geranium opens its doors to you and makes you discover the process of geranium cooking. Tasting and some tea will punctuate the visit. Practical information: visits every 45 minutes. - Old trades and the craft industry:

Demonstration of wood cutting, discovery of a job: “Bardeautier” with Mr. Jocelyn Lapierre, in partnership with the ONF. Practical information: Forêt de l’aventure (06 92 30 01 54) and Parc de la luge (02 62 32 40 32)

GASTRONOMICAL DISCOVERY

- Pleasures of Doudou

Doudou proposes two formulas for this day to you:

- At the restaurant: you can taste delicious dishes containing geranium and rum from Reunion Island .

- In its park, animated by gamess for the children, a typically local picnic will be proposed to you. Taste the traditional local dishes - banana sheets or “vanes” - a zembrocal rougail sausage or a CABRI massalé peas and pumpkin, accompanied by some punch. Moreover, Doudou will make you a demonstration of kitchen with old vegetables.

- Astonish your papillae at “relais du Maïdo »

Come to discover a complete meal containing geranium: punch, fritters of chicken, muslin.

- Smell of the tradition at Bazou

 Creole traditional cooking is with the honor. Plunge in the life of Reunion Island . Practical information: a special aperitif, punch with geranium, will be offered to you. The restoration is proposed on the spot by the restaurant at Bazou. Advised reservation: 06 92 81 32 83

SPORTING DISCOVERY

- Sports activities in the « Parc de la Luge  »

* For the children: toboggan, pony, bow, quad child (initiation)

* For the parents: quad (initiation on track and excursion), toboggan

- Crossing the forest of cryptomérias as an acrobat

Accompanied by a guide of the ONF, discover all the wonders of the nature.

Practical information: obligatory reservation at the Office of Tourism of Saint-Paul (See card-index inscription hereafter) /Strolls will proceed from 10H to 12H, accessible to everyone, free.

LODGING

To perfect this day, book a nice hut in l'Alambic des Palmistes and you taste dishes prepared with the wood fire. Practical information: if you reserve one night with a meal, 30% will be offered to you. Advised reservation: 02 62 32 86 17

 Leave slackened, buses are at your disposal (Caution: the seats are limited):

The Office of Tourism places free busses at your disposal, which will enable you to come in all peace to benefit from this day of relaxation and discovery in family;

The morning: departure from the station road of Saint-Paul at 8h00 and arrival at “ Parc de la Luge”.

The evening: departure from “Parc de la Luge ” at 16h00 and arrival at the road station of Saint-Paul.

On the spot, the shuttles will be present every 1/2 hours to take you along in the various sites of this demonstration.
